Hobbyweld

Hobbyweld 5
Hobbyweld 5 is ideal for MIG welding sheet and thin sections of mild steel under 5mm thick, such as car bodywork and thin sheet metal work. It is easy to use and provides a sound weld at very little cost. The potential for porosity and oxidation is minimal. Hobbyweld 5 is the biggest selling gas of our range.

Hobbyweld 15
Hobbyweld 15 gets its name from 15% carbon dioxide content, the extra CO2 gives this gas the capability of MIG welding steel between 5mm and 12mm thick. Welders will experience good arc stability which is due in part to the 2% oxygen content. The wide operating range makes Hobbyweld 15 the best all round choice for general fabrication.

Oxygen
Oxygen is commonly and traditionally used with a fuel gas for cutting, welding, brazing, and soldering as it supports combustion and gives a much higher flame temperature than if air is used. Oxy-propane kits are becoming increasingly popular due to the cost savings when compared to oxy-acetylene.

Acetylene
Acetylene is the number one choice for general welding, cutting and repair applications. Acetylene is the hottest and most efficient fuel gas on the market, making it the preferred product for many applications. Acetylene is becoming increasingly difficult to source for the small user. Hobbyweld now have the rent free answer.

Carbon Dioxide
Carbon Dioxide is suitable for a wide range of applications from hydroponics/aquatic gardening, through to powering paintball cartridges. (It is also commonly used as a low grade welding gas but causes a poor finish, excess spatter and often a weak weld. Hobbyweld 5 and 15 are a far more suitable product)

Nitrogen
Nitrogen is a popular purging gas and is bought by refrigeration engineers and vehicle air conditioning firms. Nitrogen is also used frequently to provide balloon drops as an alternative to compressed air. It has recently gained popularity from ametuer racing clubs for tyre inflation. Our nitrogen is oxygen free (OFN).

Argon
Argon is suitable for all TIG welding applications, generally TIG welding is used when welding stainless steel and aluminium. Hobbyweld argon is filled with the same high purity, high quality gases as found in our industrial cylinders, enabling us to boast a minimum of 99.995% purity. Many users of oxy-acetylene welding are now converting to Argon TIG welding.

Helium
Hobbyweld helium is filled to the same pressure and is the same size as our professional welding cylinders. It has the capability to fill over 160 balloons and is perfect for weddings, birthdays, festive parties and more. The capacity of this cylinder makes it a great response to the throw away ‘party-pack’ bottles and can work out significantly cheaper for larger parties.
